I’m starting this year off different than any other year before. This year I’m making goals for myself that I’m hoping will be easy to stick with and I’ll enjoy along the way. The last thing I want is to feel burdened in July by something that I decided to do in January. My first goal is to read more throughout the year. As I child I read when necessary, i.e. when my mom or teacher made me. On occasion I would stumble across something that I picked out myself, but I wasn’t a “reader” by nature. My kids however, devour books! I love watching them dive into a story, becoming enthralled with the characters and living out the adventures that are written on the pages in front of them. Watching them enjoy their books has made me want to go on adventures right along with them. So, I am! I picked a stack of books that I regretted never reading when I was a kid. Last I checked, there is no age-limit on books!
Here are my picks:
1. Harriet the Spy By: Louise Fitzhugh
2. Anne of Green Gables By: L.M. Montgomery
3. The Tale of Despereaux By: Kate DiCamillo
4. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone By: J.K Rowling
Cheers to 2015 and all the upcoming adventures ahead!
